Hmaid BEN AZIZA, Secretary General of UNIMED, obtained a PhD in Philosophy at the University Lyon III in June 1998.
He was President of the University of Tunis for two terms. In the same university he was Dean of the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences as well as Director of the Department of Philosophy of the Faculty. Among other administrative and scientific responsibilities, he was President of the National Jury of Philosophy and President or member of juries recruiting university professors of all grades. He was mentor of a number of bachelor’s and master’s theses, he published numerous articles in indexed journals and participated in several national and international conferences.
Since 2013 he is a member of the Council of the National Instance of the fight against corruption and in 2014 he also joined the Board of Directors of the Tunisian Academy of Science, Letters and Arts “Beit El Hikma”. In 2014 he also served as Co-Chair (with Pr. Mohamed Aziza) of the Ibn Khaldoun Award (Med 21).
Furthermore, in 2016 he received two distinctions: the MARE NOSTRUM Award “Virtue and Knowledge” by the Association of Social Promotion “MediterraneaMente” and the Merit Medal of Education, awarded by the President of the Republic during the Knowledge Day.
